Eating lighter meals frequently throughout the day will increase your metabolism dramatically, if your budget allows. If you can't afford to eat more frequent meals you should consider snacking in between meals. At a minimum you should have three meals a day, because starving yourself will only keep you from burning fat. Some extreme diets may suggest you eat very little but the fact is, once you start eating regularly again, the weight will come back on before you know it, and you won't build any muscle. Some good snackable items are nuts, fruit, vegetables, yogurt, and some meats.
